Mardi Gras Challenge

WILF Challenge :  To produce a presentation that gives a feel for Mardi Gras in the country you have researched.

Imagine:  You are a tourist who has just attended the festivities in your region. What did you see, hear, smell, eat, drink, wear and feel?

Do a presentation showing the:

  • Sights - Parades, Floats
  • A Voir- Les Parades, Les Chars

  • Sounds  - music
  • A Ecouter - La Musique

  • Food - speciality foods and drinks
  • La Nourriture et Les Boissons

  • Clothes and masks
  • Les Costumes et les Masques

  • Atmosphere
  • L'Ambiance

You are going to show your presentation to people who have not been there, so try to give a feeling for the atmosphere.

Before you start go to  Mardi Gras Webquest to find out about Mardi Gras in different countries.

Design:  A presentation with big images, colours, and sounds and as few words as possible.   You could try using Glogster http://edu.glogster.com/ Scroll down for an example!

Assessment:  You will be assessed on the content, presentation and design of your presentation.  Please use the PowerPoint Self Assessment sheet to make sure your presentation is as good as it can be.

Tips:

  • Plan out your presentation before you start
  • Do not copy and paste
  • Use the largest and best quality images you can find
  • Save the images into your server space and insert them into your presentation
  • Practice saying your presentation so you know it
  • Speak clearly
  • Do not just read out the words, tell a story
